Coco Chanel never came to visit theland of the Czars, but the fleeting love affair she maintained with Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich–cousin of Czar Nicolau II who lived in exile in France–, as well as the conviviality with the Russian community in Paris and the friendships she kept with elite Russian intellectuals and artists of the beginning of the XX century, rendered her a knowledgeable and admirer of the country’s culture. The stylist’s professional journeywas not, byfar, extraneousto the Eurasian nation’s charms.Starting with perfumer’s choice of the Czars’ court, Ernest Beaux  to create the famous Chanel Nº 5perfume, up to the traditional Russian embroidery, the styledistinguished, in the era, various pieces signedby Coco as well as it also distinguishes, presently, the “Le Paris Russede Chanel” collection.This is an exuberant line of high jewelrycreated by Chanel’s jewelry studio design director, Patrice Leguéreau, composed by more than 60 pieces inspired by Russian handcraft, artwork and symbols. Presented with studded diamonds and with pearls there are rings, bracelets, necklaces, broches,watches and hair embellishments, although there is, similarly, no lack of blue and pink Safire suggestions, mandarins or tsavorite grenades, portraying a fertile love story. Symbol of Imperial Russia, the two-headed eagle is also evoked in the collection accompanyingthe singularities of the traditional “roubachka” embroidered blouses. The golden and white gold are consistent to allude the wheat trunk, a symbolic Russian theme which adds further brilliance to a collection that is as magnificent as symbolically valluable.
