António Parente’s mission to place the Portuguese region of Arruda dos Vinhos on the map and promote the wines produced at Quinta de São Sebastião worldwide is one step closer to being accomplished. Quinta de São Sebastião Reserva 2015 has just received the Red Wine Trophy at Vinalies 2020, in Paris, with 95 points, in a tasting that comprised more than 3,000 wines from 45 countries.

Quinta de S. Sebastião Reserva Red is the result of a blend of Merlot, Touriga Nacional and Syrah grape varieties, mainly from hillsides at high altitudes, in clay-limestone soils, in Arruda dos Vinhos, a region recognized for its characteristic Mediterranean climate with strong Atlantic influence. It presents a deep garnet color, an aroma with notes of ripe fruit, orange blossom and some spices that are well matched with the toasted notes obtained during the 12 months of aging in French oak barrels. On the mouth it is an intense and elegant wine, with good tannins to ensure a favorable evolution in the coming years. It goes well with red meat, sausages, roasted pork loin with chestnuts and the traditional ‘cozido à portuguesa’ Portuguese stew.

In addition to the award it has just won at one of the most prestigious international wine competitions, Quinta de São Sebastião is also proud to launch Dona Aninhas Reserva Rosé 2019 this summer. “This wine is a tribute to my mother, but, above all, an acknowledgment of all mothers who, with great sacrifice, raised, educated and prepared their children for this difficult journey that is life,” reveals António Parente, owner of Quinta de São Sebastião.
